This is the heartwarming moment a pet owner builds an underwater memorial for his late dog that loved DIVING.
Danny Ocampo took five-year-old Labrador Sheldon with him while scuba diving around tropical islands in the Philippines.
The adorable pooch became a hit after he developed a talent for free diving to the bottom of the ocean.
But Danny was devastated when Sheldon was struck down with the canine disease distemper and died.
He organized a dive for the dog and built a tombstone for the pooch in the ocean near his home in Batangas province on August 6.
Danny, a professional diver, said: ”When Sheldon started diving that’s when he became famous in our little community of divers, windsurfers, paddle boarders, swimmers and free divers in Anilao.
”He was diagnosed with a suspected tumour and his spleen was removed. A short time later he was sick and tested positive for distemper and two days later he was gone.”
Danny said he had been left devastated by Sheldon’s death and was still thinking about things he could have done differently to bring him back.
But the underwater shrine was a ”beautiful tribute” for Sheldon whose favourite place was in the sea.
He added: ”To those who have shared the sea with Sheldon and have known him please don’t forget him and visit him once in a while at Sheldon’s Rocks. He’s waiting for the white rocks you used to throw for him.”
