A seven-year-old girl was found dead in a school van in Phan Thong district late Tuesday afternoon.
Police said she was found lying face down on the floor behind the driver’s seat.
Reports said there was blood around her mouth.
Her school bag and a cup of water were nearby.
Teachers discovered her body when they opened the van so that pupils could be taken home, about 4pm.
They claimed they had thoroughly checked that all pupils left the van when it arrived at the school on Tuesday morning, reports said.
The girl’s shocked parents filed a complaint at Phan Thong police station.
Police said the girl’s body was taken to Police General Hospital in Bangkok for an autopsy to determine the cause of her death.
The result would be central to the police investigation.
The dead girl was in Grade 2. The school’s name was not reported.
