At 00:36, the Pattaya Marine Disaster Prevention Unit received an urgent distress call about a tourist couple whose jet ski had overturned near Jomtien Beach. The unit quickly coordinated with the Pattaya Tourist Police and rescue volunteers from Rojanatham Sathan Sattahip to rush to the scene.
Upon arrival, they encountered Mr. Abdulrahman Mahdi M. Alamri, a 26-year-old Saudi national, who had managed to swim over two kilometers to shore in search of help for his wife, Miss Atheer Saeed A. Alamri, also 26, who was stranded in the water. Despite the dark, Mr. Alamri had been swimming for over five hours, wearing a life jacket, before reaching land. A good Samaritan spotted him, alerted authorities, and provided crucial assistance.
The couple had rented the jet ski for an hour, but after they failed to return, the jet ski operator began a search. Initial efforts were unsuccessful, but it was only after Mr. Alamri’s dramatic swim and a social media alert that rescue teams were able to locate their position. Patrol boats were deployed, and after an intense search, Miss Alamri was found approximately two kilometers from shore, clinging to the overturned jet ski. Her life jacket had kept her afloat, but she was weak and shivering. Thanks to the quick response, she was safely brought back to shore.
The emotional reunion on the beach saw Mr. Alamri embracing his wife amidst cheers from onlookers, marking the end of a harrowing ordeal.
