Russian Tourist Injured While Rescuing Finnish Women from Attackers in Phuket

PHUKET: A 44-year-old Russian tourist was injured while bravely defending two Finnish women from an attempted assault by three foreign men who barged into their hotel room in Patong subdistrict, Phuket, early Saturday morning.

The Russian tourist, identified as Aleksandr Belinskii, sustained facial injuries while fighting off the attackers. He was taken to Patong Hospital, where he is in stable condition, according to Patong Police Station officials.

The two Finnish women told police that they were inside their hotel room on Rat Uthit 200 Years Road when three foreign men forced their way in and attempted to sexually assault them.

Belinskii, who happened to be walking past their room at the time, witnessed the incident and intervened in an effort to stop the attackers. However, the men turned on him, assaulted him, and then fled the scene.

Police are currently reviewing security camera footage from the hotel to identify and track down the suspects. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to bring the attackers to justice.
