Russian motorbike rider fined 5,000 Baht for doing wheelies

A Russian motorcyclist who was caught on camera performing wheelies on a road in Rawai, Phuket, was fined 5,000 Baht.

The incident was reported  by the Phuket Provincial Police on Saturday, May 27. Earlier this week, images of a foreign rider riding wheelies on Sai Yaun Road went popular on Thai social media, infuriating Thai citizens who requested the rider be located and detained.

Anatolii Shatalov, a Russian citizen, age 26, has been identified as the rider by the Chalong Police after further inquiry. The Russian rider revealed himself to the Chalong Police on May 25 and acknowledged that he was the individual in the pictures.

Charges against Anatolii include reckless driving, causing a public nuisance, and operating a vehicle without a valid license. The Russian motorcyclist has admitted to the accusations, but he hasn’t given an explanation for why he was disobeying the traffic and road laws.

Anatolii was fined 5,000 Baht by the Phuket Kwaeng Court on Friday, May 26th.
