Residents and tourist demand stronger law enforcement

Pattaya Pattaya one

Pattaya is currently grappling with a surge of frustration and dissatisfaction among residents and tourists due to widespread illegal activities plaguing the city. Issues such as illegal parking, public smoking, marijuana use, street vendors, fireworks sellers on the beach, roadside food stalls, begging, flower-selling foreigners at night, solicitation by women, double-parked taxis, and sidewalk obstructions have raised concerns about law enforcement effectiveness.

The vibrant nightlife and entertainment industry that define the city are also being marred by these problems, posing safety risks and inconveniences. Mayor Poramet Ngampichet, responsible for maintaining order, has the authority to enforce cleanliness regulations directly but faces challenges in addressing certain issues.

Residents and tourists are urgently calling for a comprehensive and collaborative approach to tackle these problems, fearing that failure to do so may jeopardize Pattaya’s status as a tourist-friendly destination. The consensus is clear: a sincere and joint effort is needed to preserve the city’s reputation and ensure it remains a safe and attractive place for all.
