Police are on the hunt for two tourists who were seen getting a bit too close for comfort just off a beach in Thailand.
The tourists were seen floating around 100ft off shore from Karon Beach in Phuket on Saturday afternoon.
Somehow the couple managed to keep their balance on the paddleboard as they started having sex in front of shocked tourists.
The woman was lying on her back as the man kneeled over her.
Shocked holidaymaker and eyewitness Klaus Weber, 72, said: ‘I’m retired. I’ve been to many places on holiday but I’ve never seen this before, and I’ve been to Ibiza.
‘When anybody swims out at sea, the beach looks further away than it is, so I’m sure they thought nobody could see them.
‘Actually, when you are on the beach, objects that are in the sea look closer than they are. We could see exactly what they were doing.’
Police Colonel Kundech Na Nongkhai, superintendent of Karon Police Station, said they are working to identify the couple.
They are believed to be tourists who had rented the standup paddleboard or taken it from their hotel.
He added: ‘It happened in the sea so we could not identify the exact location when the video was first reported to us.
‘This case is currently under investigation. We will try to find them and prosecute them.
‘The Karon Provincial Police Station is not complacent and will not ignore it. It is an obscene act in public.’
Officers are also reviewing CCTV filmed around the beach to try and identify the culprits.
If they are arrested, the couple could face a public obscenity misdemeanour charge, which has a fine of up to 500 baht (10.81 GBP).
