Pills seized from Mekong river

A border patrol has seized 258,000 methamphetamine pills found on the bank of the Mekong river in Tha Uthen district, the 21st Ranger Regiment announced.

The meth pills, along with 30 grammes of crystal meth, were found by a combined patrol from Ranger Company 2019 and the Mekong Riverine Unit on the Mekong river bank near Ban Na Kaserm, the Moo 10 village in tambon Phanom, early on Saturday.

The drugs were believed to have been brought across the river from Laos by smugglers and left on the river bank to be collected for further distribution.

Nobody was arrested.

Since early this year, about 11 million meth pills have been seized in this northeastern border province by government agencies in drug suppression operations.
