As authorities resumed their crackdown on foreign nationals entering the country illegally, three Chinese citizens were punished.
Banglamung officers raided two homes in the Patta Define Village in Takhiantia in east Pattaya on April 22 after receiving orders from national deputy police chief Pol. Gen. Surachet “Big Joke” Hakparn to check on Chinese nationals and other foreigners every week who may be breaking the law or overstaying their visas.Despite having valid passports and visas, Chee Yei, Jao Jong Cheung, and Li Jien Lu committed the cardinal sin by skipping their 90-day immigration check-in. As a result, they were each penalized 4,000 baht.
A Chinese woman who was not recognized was questioned at a second home and was later found to have done nothing wrong.
