Pakistani national involved with the murder has been arrested

In the brutal killing of German real estate dealer Hans Peter Mack, the only key suspect still at large, a Pakistani-Thai male, was detained in Kanchanaburi. Here is an update:

The last suspect, Mr. Sahruk Kareem Uddin, a 27-year-old Pakistani national with Thai citizenship, was taken into custody by a squad from Region 2 Police under the direction of Major General Teerachai Chamnanmor.

He apparently intended to travel to Myanmar on Wednesday, July 12, but was detained as he exited a taxi in Kanchanaburi City. It will take roughly five hours to return him to the Nongprue Police Station as of the time of publication.

In the meantime, Mr. Olaf Thorsten Brinkmann, a 52-year-old German national who was also one of the main suspects and who police claim was the mastermind of the crime, was detained by Thai authorities on Tuesday, July 11.

The Nongprue Police attempted to question Olaf once more on Wednesday, July 12. He maintains his denial of all allegations and says he won’t speak until an attorney of his choosing is there.

Olaf was unhappy that the Thai police had revoked his permission to remain in Thailand.

Olaf had a brief meeting with reporters before being taken upstairs at the Nongprue Police Station to sign paperwork to terminate his visa. When they questioned him about the incident, Olaf hid his face in his hands and merely uttered the phrase “Bull Sh-t” to them. As of the publication date, none of the three main suspects had requested bail; even if they had, it is unlikely that it would be granted, with the possible exception of Petra, who voluntarily turned herself in and has been praised by law enforcement for being cooperative.
