Ansley Pacheco considers herself lucky to be alive after robbers stormed her house in Miami on 4 October before firing at her six or seven times.
The 26-year-old – who has 190,000 followers on Instagram – decided to fight fire with fire in a bid to protect her family, retrieving a pistol from her bedroom.
Speaking to 7News Miami, she said: “Everybody got onto the ground. My son just stayed there on the couch. I grabbed him, and I ran straight to the bedroom.
“I said, ‘Don’t shoot! My son is in here!'”
“He started shooting at me. They shot at me about seven times, six, seven times.
“My worry was my husband and my son. Honestly, I wasn’t scared. It was just, my reaction was to get the gun and to defend.
“They could’ve killed me, and they could’ve killed my son. They were shooting right over his head. They didn’t care.”
Home security footage shows a guest’s Mercedes-Benz SUV pulling up on the driveway of Ansley’s home before being rushed by two armed men, who forced the guest inside where a group were watching Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.
The home invaders ordered everyone to get to the ground, taking $102,000 (£78,360) worth of expensive accessories, including a $33,000 (£25,350) watch, a $50,000 (£38,400) gold chain and a phone, according to the Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, Ansley grabbed a pistol in her bedroom.
She told Local 10 News: “I went to the nightstand; I grabbed the gun and I opened the door. I saw one if they guys face to face with me.
“He told me to put my gun down. I just shook my head.”
The armed robbers fired at the bedroom, damaging a closet door, a bathroom door, a bed’s headboard and the TV.
As they fled with their haul, Ansley’s husband Daniel grabbed the pistol from her and chased them, firing at their getaway car as it sped into the distance.
No one was hurt during the home invasion and the couple said they have ‘no idea’ who was responsible.
Anyone with information about the home invasion is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers anonymously on (00 1) 305-471-8477 for a potential $1,000 (£770) cash reward.
