Nong Khai student robbed of Bt50, found dead following day

A student in his first year at technical school was found dead in his boarding house bedroom on Monday, a day after he’d been robbed of Bt50 in cash.

There has been no speculation about a connection between the two incidents.

Muang Nong Khai police were called to Nong Khai Technical School at 5pm on Monday after the body of Poonyawat Jaikhong, 18, was discovered by a friend.

The friend had gone to check on Poonyawat after he failed to show up for classes.

A doctor estimated he’d been dead for about six hours.

The friend said Poonyawat had told him Sunday evening about being robbed by another teenager while riding his motorcycle to the boarding house from his family home in Fao Rai district.

Poonyawat said the robber had kicked him in the chest and neck and demanded money, and then sped away with Bt50.
