Newborn baby rescued from garbage dump in Pathum Thani

A newborn baby was found and rescued from a pile of garbage in Pathum Thani’s Muang district early Thursday morning.

Pol Maj Sanchai Methiwiwat, an inspector at Muang Pathum Thani police station, said the baby was found at a garbage dump on Soi Jai Ua behind the Thai Mitsuwa Company in Tambon Ban Chang.

The baby’s umbilical cord was still attached and the infant had not been cleaned after birth. Rescuers cleaned the baby and rushed the infant to Pathum Thani Hospital.

Wanida Madmool, 31, who found the baby, said she was riding her motorcycle with her daughter past the pile of garbage when her daughter spotted the baby moving on a piece of cloth.

With the sun already strong, she hurried to move the infant to the shade.
