Yesterday afternoon, July 28th, a Cambodian motorbike rider was killed in a collision with an 18-wheeler in the Phanat Nikhom area. The woman was said to be riding against the flow of traffic.
Following a report of the accident, the local rescue squad came to the victim’s aid on 331 Road in the Nongprue sub-district of Chonburi. Ms. Tak Ea, a 38-year-old Cambodian woman, had sadly died on her blue Honda Wave motorcycle, which had jammed tightly against the bumper of an 18-wheeler.
Tak died as a result of lethal wounds to her head and wrists. Her body was taken to a local hospital. According to local media, the rescue squad also recovered and transferred the driver of the involved 18-wheeler.
Mr. Chakkrit Pama, 39, was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening leg injuries. The man was of Thai origin.Mr. Chaichan Bunsi, an eyewitness, stated that Chakkrit knocked with his truck from behind before turning into the left lane. Unfortunately, Chakkrit’s truck collided with the deceased victim, who was driving against traffic at the time.
The police are gathering CCTV footage from the crash in preparation for further investigation and possibly legal action.
