Motorbike driver killed after allegedly running over a turtle before crashing in Chonburi

A motorbike driver was pronounced dead this morning after he allegedly ran over a turtle before crashing into a power pole then landing in a ditch in the Mueang Chonburi district this morning.

The Don Huafor Police were notified of the accident at 3:30 AM this morning (Oct 10) in the Don Huafor sub-district.

Police and the Tri Kunnatam rescue team arrived at the scene to find the body of Mr. Choketawee Pangroop, 31, from Ubon Ratchatani, face down in a ditch filled with water on the side of the road.

A damaged motorbike was found against a power pole on the side of the road. A crushed turtle was also found dead on the road.

Ms. Aemon Kormanklang, age not given, told police that she saw the victim was driving slowly before the crash and was not speeding.

At this stage Mueang Chonburi police believed that the driver might have ran over the turtle and lost control of his vehicle resulting in the fatal accident.
