model arrested for promoting gambling

A 23-year-old internet idol has been arrested in Bangkok for allegedly persuading people to gamble online, police reported on Thursday.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) apprehended Lalada at a condominium in the Lat Phrao district on Wednesday, according to Pol Maj Gen Theeradet Thumsuthee, MPB investigation chief. Her surname was not disclosed.

Known as “Noon OnlyFans,” Lalada was charged with organizing gambling activities and enticing people to gamble through advertising and persuasion.

The arrest came after a police investigation revealed that Lalada had posted photos of herself along with links to gambling websites on her Facebook page. She also posted messages encouraging people to sign up for the online gambling site “omega9.”

After determining her location, the arresting team obtained a search warrant from the Criminal Court on Wednesday.

During the search, officers confiscated and examined her iPhone, discovering numerous messages on her Facebook and Instagram accounts promoting online gambling.

During questioning, Lalada admitted to owning the accounts and confessed to starting to lure people into online gambling in 2018.

She stated that two gambling websites had hired her to advertise for them, paying her 20,000 baht for posting gambling advertisements 30 times per website.

Lalada is currently held in police custody at Chokchai station pending legal action.
