Massage shops too relaxed

Massage shops

Massage shop inspections have revealed that some shops are “too relaxed” after they were allowed to re-open on the 1st of this month.

The Government’s Centre for Covid-19 Administration announced earlier on easing Covid-19 safety restrictions on Phase 3 of the emergency decree.

This includes massage shops mainly spa massages, health massages, and beauty massages. Officials went to inspect massage shops in the Bang Sue area, Bangkok City on 7 June 2020.

Many of the shops are found following the regulations given by the government.

This includes rules that the masseuse or masseur and customers must wear a mask at all times while in the shop, a massage session must not exceed 2 hours, customers must sanitize their hands before entering along with having their temperature checked, and customers must check into the shop via QR code.

Customers are not allowed to sit and wait inside the shop, meaning that bookings must be made before receiving service. Shops must make sure that customers don’t have a fever as a safety precaution for employees and other customers.

Several shops did not have the QR code picture placed in front of the store, this is required so customers will know how to check-in and check-out before leaving. Many shops also did not use an infrared thermometer to measure customer’s temperatures before using their services.

All the shops had signs placed in front stating that all customers must wear masks while using the services but inside officials found that many employees were working with no mop cap and no face shield as required in the safety regulations, they were only wearing masks.

Hopefully, after receiving a warning these shops will follow the rules, as this helps protect the employees from any possible risks in relation to Covid-19.

Aside from massage shops, gyms and swimming pools inside condos and apartments are still not allowed to re-open. Gyms in malls have allowed to re-open with a limit of users allowed per time along with disinfecting the gym several times per day and deep cleaning after the business shuts down for the day.
