Following an incident on a Thai Airways International (THAI) flight bound for Bangkok, a Canadian national has been taken into police custody. The individual reportedly opened an emergency door, causing the deployment of an inflatable evacuation slide while the aircraft was taxiing at Chiang Mai airport.
The 40-year-old man, whose identity was not disclosed, insisted that he believed someone was about to attack him. Passengers had to return to the terminal, and the flight eventually departed at 12:34 am following the removal of the deployed slide. Chiang Mai airport reported that the incident affected 2,296 passengers across 13 flights. THAI confirmed the safety of all passengers and crew members involved in the affected flight.
