A drug suspect was found hanged inside a detention room at a police station in Loei’s Na Duang district just a few hours after she was interrogated on Thursday morning.
Pol Capt Chaliewdej Piriyathanakul, deputy inspector of the Na Duang, went to check the suspect, Waranyaporn Promrasi, 34, at 10am and found her hanging from a bar.
Chaliewdej said Waranyaporn tore her blanket into pieces and used the pieces to make a rope to hang herself.
He said Waranyaporn was arrested on Wednesday with 1,053 methamphetamine pills.
Her relatives did not question her death so her body was handed over to the family for religious rites and the case was closed.
Na Duang deputy police chief Lt Col Sinthusak Kaewphukhiew said Waranyaporn had divorced from her husband several years ago and had to take care of her three children.
She had been convicted twice on drug charges and had been arrested on a motorcycle theft charge. After her latest arrest, her mother refused to seek her release on bail and police told her she would be arraigned in court for both the drugs and motorcycle theft charges, Sinthusak said.
