Pattaya City leaders and business owners clean up Walking Street and celebrate “A day for Pattaya” to symbolize a fresh new start for Pattaya
Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunplume, various city leaders and business owners sprayed down and cleaned up Walking Street yesterday in what was designated as a day for Pattaya.
This event was designed to mark the lack of cases of Covid-19 found in Banglamung now for coming on two weeks and hopeful reopenings of closed businesses and easing of restrictions on travel and other measures put in place on December 30th designed to stop the potential spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Meetings on restrictions and measures are expected today at a national level in Thailand and in the near future at a local level.
The event saw nearly every major city official attend along with local business leaders, volunteers, and other prominent local citizens.
The event was designed to show faith in Pattaya’s recent strides to reduce confirmed, official Covid19 cases in the area to zero and show potential future visitors the area was safe.
According to the Mayor, the event also was to symbolize a fresh start as construction work to remove long standing eyesores of various electric and telecommunications cables on the street and move them underground is set to begin early next week.
This construction work is estimated to take about six months and had been delayed for almost a year at business owner requests.
