Kuwaiti Motorbike Racers Remain a Problem in Pattaya

Residents and business owners in South Pattaya are still irritated by the nightly gatherings of noisy Middle Eastern street racers. According to hotel owners, several hotel residents even moved out of the region to avoid the insufferable annoyance.
Pattaya police officers stormed Soi Yen Sabai in South Pattaya early this morning, July 31st, after neighbors complained that young adults, predominantly Kuwaiti nationals, had congregated in the lane and made noise disruptions with their leased modified motorcycles.According to the complaints, these young males revved up their engines, parked in front of residences without authorization, and drove loudly up and down the street with no respect for traffic rules.

At the conclusion of the operation, the authorities seized 15 of the motorcycles that were impeding traffic and announced that they will take legal action against the tourists and motorbike rental companies.In Pattaya, there have been a series of recent road incidents involving Middle Eastern tourists. On July 26th, a Kuwaiti tourist faced amputation when the motorbike he was riding as a passenger brushed against a traffic barrier, sustaining severe leg injuries.

To address this issue, Pattaya police attempted to collaborate with the Kuwaiti envoy, urging him to improve knowledge of Thailand’s driving rules among his compatriots. However, so far, this strategy does not appear to be effective
