Shocking scenes unfolded as UFC legends Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz met for the final time before their upcoming fight, resulting in a massive brawl. The chaos erupted following a press conference, where tensions between the fighters’ teams boiled over into violence.
As Masvidal was leaving the press conference in Los Angeles, members of his team and Diaz’s entourage began exchanging heated words. The situation quickly escalated, and punches were thrown. Video footage shows Masvidal in the thick of the fray, pulling one person away from the chaos.
According to ESPN, the brawl started when a member of Diaz’s team threw a punch at Masvidal after the Cuban fighter slapped him. The altercation intensified when Masvidal’s boxing coach, Jorge Capetillo, attempted to punch another member of Diaz’s crew. Security staff eventually restored order, and no police action was taken.
Masvidal and Diaz share a long, bitter rivalry that seemed to have ended after Masvidal’s victory in their 2019 fight for the UFC’s “Baddest Mother F***er” belt. However, the animosity resurfaced as they prepare for their boxing match.
The press conference saw a particularly hostile Diaz, who abruptly walked off the stage and had to be recalled for the face-off. He expressed his frustration with the event, stating, “Not this fing press conference. I’m sick of sitting here. I’m sick of looking at all these motherfers.”
Despite the tension, both fighters are set to face off on July 6. Diaz, who has only one professional boxing match under his belt (a loss to YouTuber Jake Paul), will take on Masvidal, a seasoned MMA fighter with 35 wins in his career. Masvidal’s last victory was against Diaz in 2019, and he ended his UFC career on a run of four consecutive losses.
The stage is set for an explosive showdown as both fighters look to settle their rivalry in the ring.
