An Indian man accused of multiple serious crimes, including murder and abduction, has been arrested in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district.
Officers and other officials apprehended 27-year-old Parveen “Kala” Kumar, an Indian national, at a restaurant in the Bang Khun Phrom area. Kumar was wanted in India in connection with 13 criminal cases and had fled to Thailand, according to Pol Maj Gen Phanthana Nutchanart, deputy chief of the Immigration Bureau.
The arrest followed a tip-off from the Armed Forces Security Centre regarding a suspicious individual, believed to be of Indian nationality, frequently seen at a hotel in the same area. Immigration officers launched an investigation, confirming the man’s identity and seeking assistance from the Indian embassy to verify his criminal record.
The Indian authorities confirmed that Kumar was wanted for 13 criminal offenses, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, abduction, and weapons charges, according to Pol Maj Gen Phanthana.
Kumar is currently in the custody of the Immigration Bureau and will be deported to India to face legal proceedings.
