Increased flights by six airlines available during Songkran festival

Increased flights by six airlines available during Songkran festival

Thailand’s six domestic airlines have sought permission from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) to add 104 flights to their schedules during the “Grand Songkran Festival”, to cope with an expected increase in air travel during the period and to resolve the problem of expensive air tickets.

The additional flights will operate on April 11th and 12th and onApril 15th and 16th, and will increase the number of available seats by 17,874 to Phuket, Chiang Mai, Samui, Ubon Ratchathani and Khon Kaen.

Because these extra flights will operate outside normal hours, either late at night or early morning, the airlines will offer air tickets at up to 20% below normal prices.

Those who want to fly during the Songkran festival to these destinations are advised to book their tickets through the websites of the six airlines and to check the ticket prices first, to make sure that the prices are not overly inflated, said the CAAT.

CAAT also said that it will check the air tickets during the Songkran festival, to ensure that they are not over-priced. Anyone who encounters overpriced air tickets can lodge a complaint with CAAT at https://portal.caat.or.th/complaint/.
