Hungry locals scrambled to collect two tons of sausages that were spilled from an overturned truck.
The vehicle was carrying the meat from a factory to shops when it lost control on the slippery road in Saraburi province, central Thailand on Monday afternoon (May 11).
Footage taken by passing motorist Itphumm Tanatchok shows how dozens of scavenging locals and drivers stopped their journeys and converged on the scene to scoop up the bratwursts.
Some of them were seen stuffing the plastic bags full of meat into their own empty sacks while others carried them in their hands.
Itphumm said: “At first, I thought they are helping the driver to collect the spilled sausages, but when I drove to the scene, I was shocked.
”I did not think people would be as unkind as this. They were taking the sausages back to their cars.”
Officials said the driver was injured in the crash and was transported to the nearby hospital.
There were only a handful of sausages left at the scene later that evening by the time residents had finished looting the area.
