Social Distancing – It seems that there is only one discussion dominating the internet and our conversations at the minute and that is social distancing.
Health experts have recommended that we have to practice this is we are to ever get over the Covid-19 virus as it continues to spread to all corners of the globe.
The virus as many people are well aware now has infected more than 100.000 people and killed thousands worldwide.
BUT WHAT US SOCIAL DISTANCING?
Social distancing a public health measure that gets ordered during a highly contagious outbreak. It involves the health Authorities stopping or limiting large or mass public meeting and gatherings. Examples of these are; music festivals; closing of buildings such as schools and libraries and cancelling events in the hope to slow the spread of a disease.
BUT WHY SHOULD PEOPLE MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCE?
A disease such as the COVID-!(, the virus can spread easier from person to person through sneezing and coughing. When a person sneezes or coughs, they expel tiny droplets that others might breathe in.
So for this reason, it is very important that people try to avoid contact with others who might have a fever, cough or any other respiratory symptoms.
Josh Michaud, an associate director at a global health policy non-profit had said that in the past social distancing has helped to curb the effects of pandemics.
HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCE?
It is recommended that keeping at least a one-metre gap from a sick person, also, people should avoid shaking hands, hugging or kissing people with any symptoms.
If you have to care for a person or people that has COVID-19 or symptoms that are similar, then wearing a mask can help you from getting sick.
The WHO recommends a one-metre gap, but the U.S Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended that person should actually keep a distance of 2 meters from another person.
