Land and House Plc (LH) has reported high occupancy rates at its Grand Center Point hotels in Bangkok and Pattaya ahead of the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities. Mr. Wit Tantivorawong, managing director for the support division of LH, shared that room reservations at LH hotels have reached 80-90% ahead of the Chinese New Year period, which will take place from February 7th to 15th. Notably, there has been an increase in independent Chinese travelers, particularly in Pattaya. The festival is attracting a diverse mix of tourists, with around 40-50% being Thai and the rest consisting of various nationalities such as Chinese, Malaysians, Indians, and Europeans.
The recovery of the tourism sector has had a positive impact on all hotel segments. Mr. Wit mentioned that occupancy rates have improved and room prices have remained stable. In Bangkok, hotel prices range from 4,000-5,000 baht per night, while in Pattaya, prices range from 5,000-6,000 baht per night. Mr. Wit credited the government’s policy of offering free and permanent visas to Chinese nationals for the positive performance. He expressed hope that this program will be extended to include other countries in the future.
