Homeless problem growing quickly in Pattaya due to Covid19, local residents ask city officials to take action

Homeless problem

Local residents who contacted The Pattaya News have urged Pattaya City officials to solve the growing homeless problem in Pattaya as the numbers of visible homeless have grown dramatically during the past few weeks in Central Pattaya, primarily due to the COVID19 crisis.

Locals near Soi 13 have raised concerns that although there have always been a few homeless in the area that the numbers have been steadily increasing in the area with an estimated 90 percent of businesses closed in Pattaya due to Covid19.

The concerned residents told The Pattaya News that after Pattaya beach and the parks were officially closed the homeless were allegedly kicked off the beach and out of the parks where most of them slept. Now, they sleep in front of closed shops and businesses, of which they are more highly visible. Additionally, according to both local residents and a tour by Pattaya News reporters, the numbers of homeless have grown dramatically.

The local residents near Soi 13 told The Pattaya News that law enforcement and city officials should do something for the homeless, even if it means giving them temporary room and boarding during the crisis. They have an ample supply of food, notes The Pattaya News, due to the number of charities currently feeding residents across Pattaya, but unless action is taken soon the numbers will continue to grow.
