The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Narita International Airport in Japan were invited to a meeting with Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngamphichet, Deputy Mayor Thitiphan Petchtrakul, and Secretary to the Mayor Poompipat Kamonnart to learn more about the city’s ambitious plans for a high-speed railway project and the ongoing development of U-tapao Rayong-Pattaya International Airport.
The idea to build a high-speed rail line that will connect Don Mueang Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport, and U-Tapao Rayong-Pattaya International Airport was spearheaded by Pattaya City, Mayor Poramet emphasized.
This project is extremely important because it supports the goals of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), a significant development area created to promote regional economic growth. The mayor stressed how important it is for this infrastructure development to help Thailand establish itself as a major regional aviation center.
Mayor Poramet also underscored Pattaya City’s global recognition as a highly sought-after vacation spot that draws tourists from all over the world. The city is a prime prospect for additional airport expansion due to its strong public infrastructure and ongoing economic growth.
The mayor hopes to see U-Tapao Rayong-Pattaya International Airport develop into a top-notch airport that can effectively fulfill the needs of local commuters and those using public transit, while also offering quick and easy services to meet changing traveler needs.
