 Hands found beneath expressway

hands found beneath expressway

Police discovered what were believed to be the severed hands of an 18-year-old girl on Thursday. She was allegedly killed by her boyfriend earlier in the week.

Her body had been found on Wednesday, dumped beneath an elevated expressway in the Muang district of Pathum Thani.

The severed hands were located in a plastic bag near the Chiang Rak canal, about four kilometers from where the body was found, according to the police.

Alongside the hands, police found a lock of long hair, women’s clothes, towels, snacks, and baby wipes. These items were sent for closer examination.

Thanakorn Eiamlaor, 18, the suspected murderer, was detained on Wednesday following the discovery of the victim’s body.

Initially, he did not cooperate while police attempted to locate the victim’s hands, said Pol Col Narong Iamrahong, chief of the Pak Khlong Rangsit police station.

The suspect later confessed to dumping the hands, leading a team of officers and rescue workers to track them down.

Security camera footage showed the suspect riding a motorcycle to the canal, where he was seen throwing a black plastic bag into the water and leaving, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

The suspect’s father informed police that his son had been on medication for a mental illness diagnosed two years ago.

Police found the suspect at a housing estate, where he was trying to overdose by swallowing many pills.

The victim, identified as Ranya Saensuriwong, 18, was found wrapped in a bedsheet and bound with three black belts. Her body had slash wounds to the neck, and both her hands had been severed at the wrists.
