Gangster killing caught on CCTV

Police said they have CCTV footage of the moment two gunmen shot dead in Phuket an Indian man with a history of criminal activity.

Officers said the footage showed two barefoot men wearing white hoody jackets and short trousers emerging from bushes and approaching the victim in front of his villa on Rawai Beach at 10.56pm on Friday, Feb 4.

The pair then shot the man multiple times before fleeing the scene.

The dead man has been identified as Jimi “Slice” Sandhu, 32.

His body was found lying face-down in a pool of blood in the villa’s parking lot the following morning.

According to police, Sandhu entered Thailand on Jan 27 using a fake Canadian passport with the name “Mandeep Singh”. They said Sandhu owned the villa.

The police now have 20 teams to investigate profiles, criminal records and the killers’ possible motives, said a source.

The investigation team found the white jackets worn by the suspects in a rubber plantation about 2 kilometres from the scene. They have been sent to the Police Forensic Science Centre pending DNA test results.

Individuals linked to the dead man will be summoned for questioning, police said.

They said Sandhu was born in India in 1990 and moved to Canada in 1997 where he lived with relatives in the city of Abbotsford in British Columbia.

At the age of 20, he was wanted by Indian police in relation to 14 illicit drug factories operating in three states in western India.

The drugs produced there were smuggled to Canada, Africa and Thailand.

Police said Sandhu was also a member of two gangs in Canada, both involved in illegal drugs.

Sandhu was deported from Canada in 2016 over illicit drug cases and other related crimes, including assaults, illegally owning arms and being a gang member, according to the police.

Since then, it is believed he travelled back and forth between Dubai and Southeast Asia.
