The Phang Nga governor declared four coastal villages in Takua Pa district disaster zones on Monday after they were hit by a storm that caused giant waves to batter them overnight.
Provincial governor Sitthichai Sakda declared Moo 5, Moo 6, Moo 7 villages in Tambon Khuekkhak and Moo 3 village in Tambon Koh Kho Khao disaster zones so that help could be rushed to them faster. The storms caused the sea to surge and flood several houses in the villages and strong winds also brought down trees and blocked the roads there, the governor added. Sitthichai also instructed government agencies in eight districts to be on standby to rush help to the people if the ongoing rain caused flash floods and mudslides. NT – EP
