At Don Mueang Airport, a female traveler slipped after being hit by a piece of luggage and was swept under a moving walkway, losing her lower left leg.
A passenger who was due to fly to the province of Nakhon Srithammarat was transported promptly to the hospital after the event, which occurred on Thursday morning at about 8.30 a.m. The airport is paying for the medical expenses.
It wasn’t the first time a female traveler at Don Mueang Airport on a Thursday morning lost her lower left leg to a moving walkway. In 2019, a passenger’s slipper almost became entrapped in the partially broken skirt of a moving walkway, but he was able to remove it just in time.
According to Karan Tanakuljirapat, the airport’s director, the moving walkway was built in Japan by a reputable company and is used by many other airports around the world. Engineers have been rushed in to investigate. Every three hours, airport staff workers check the moving walkway.
