According to authorities, the former ambassador to Denmark who was found dead in a bathroom in a Bangkok home had been stabbed to death.
Following a meeting with investigators at Suthisan police station, Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner Pol Maj Gen Noppasilp Poonsawat stated that a forensic investigation of the body discovered on Sunday morning revealed that he had been stabbed three times in the chest.
In the Chatuchak neighborhood of Bangkok, the body of Vichit Chitvimarn, 63, was discovered in a toilet on the second level of a three-story home.
The former diplomat has three stab wounds in his chest, according to Pol Maj Gen Noppasilp. First-floor kitchen wooden box with five knives inside was examined by forensic officers, who discovered blood stains on two of them.
According to him, the fact that the first and second floors of the home had been looted supports the theory that the murder was likely motivated by the theft of valuables.
He stated that footage from the home’s security cameras was being reviewed.
According to a source, Vichit usually lived alone, but before his death, witnesses told police that Vichit had been with his step-kid, who is 17 and the biological child of his building contractor. The teen was detained by police for questioning.
Police announced that they would question two boys, ages 14 and 17, who they believe may have been involved in the murder.
Vichit Chitvimarn, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, retired on September 30, 2020. At the ministry, he held crucial roles such as deputy director-general of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency, general consul in Kunming, China, general consul in Osaka, Japan, attached ambassador, and ambassador to Denmark in Copenhagen.
