Englishman dies after bathroom fall

Yesterday April 3rd at 7.10am, a tragic incident claimed the life of a British businessman after he slipped and fell onto a glass sliding door in his Chon Buri residence, resulting in the glass impaling his chest.

Upon receiving notification of the accident, Police Lieutenant Colonel Surasingh Sukmak, the deputy investigator, responded to the scene involving Gareth John Wilson, a 54-year-old British national. The unfortunate event occurred in a private housing estate in the Huai Yai area of Bang Lamung District, located in the coastal town of Chon Buri.

Law enforcement officials arrived at the luxurious single-story residence to find Wilson’s wife and relatives in a state of profound grief, with some individuals fainting and collapsing on the sofas in the lounge area. Wilson was discovered on the bed with a fatal chest wound in the bedroom.

The bathroom’s glass sliding door was shattered, and the floor bore a significant amount of bloodstains. No indications of a struggle were apparent in the room, prompting the police to document the scene for further investigation.

According to the initial statement provided by the deceased’s wife, Wilson had been out drinking with friends the previous night and returned home late. In the morning, while walking to the bathroom, he allegedly experienced dizziness, lost his balance, and accidentally collided with the sliding glass door, leading to its breakage.

Despite his severe injuries, Wilson managed to make his way to the bed and lay down. Family members swiftly requested medical assistance from Bangkok Hospital Pattaya; however, the injuries and ensuing blood loss were too grave, and Wilson succumbed to his injuries before help could save him, as per KhaoSod’s report.

Authorities have arranged for a comprehensive post-mortem examination at the Police General Hospital’s forensic medicine institute to ascertain the exact cause of death. Additionally, relatives will be summoned for further inquiries to conclude the investigation into the tragic accident.
