A Thai man in Sattahip, identified only as Mr. Natthaphum, 36, parked his car on the side of Highway 332 to rest after becoming too intoxicated. However, he was later found sleeping in the middle of the road.
The incident occurred on June 22nd, 2024, at kilometer 3/900 between the Kasem Pol Intersection and the Jae Intersection in the Sattahip district of Chonburi province. Sattahip police were alerted at 5:50 AM by a group of cyclists who reported seeing a sedan parked on the roadside and its driver unconscious nearby.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a white Mazda 2 sedan with the engine off. Mr. Natthaphum was found intoxicated, lying asleep in the left lane, wearing only black shorts and no shirt. It took officers over 10 minutes to wake him up. Fortunately, he had not been hit by any passing vehicles and was unharmed.
Mr. Natthaphum told local media that he had been drinking at a restaurant before attempting to drive home, which was about 5 kilometers away. He could not remember the events between leaving the restaurant and waking up in the road.
Sattahip police suspect that Mr. Natthaphum may have intentionally parked his car and fallen asleep to avoid being caught at an alcohol checkpoint.
The police gave Mr. Natthaphum water to help him sober up and contacted his family to drive him home. He reportedly did not face any charges.
