Drunk British arrested after damaging a local’s home in Koh Lanta

On Lanta Island in Krabi, a drunken British man was detained after he flung a rock at a local’s house out of frustration after misplacing his cell phone. The Koh Lanta Police received a report from Ms. Kanotha, last name withheld, age 20, accompanied with video proof.

She reported to the police that a drunken foreign male this week at 2:30 A.M. threw a rock through a glass door at her home in the Sala Dan neighborhood. The foreign man left when the door was smashed. She claimed not to know the foreigner and to have never before had a problem with him.

The Phuket Express was informed by the Koh Lanta Police that a 30-year-old British male was detained following the incident. A motorcycle had been rented by him at Mueang Krabi. He admitted to being drunk to the police and claimed he was upset over losing his phone.

He agreed to pay for the damages, including the 30,000 Baht cost to restore the glass door, which the home’s owner had estimated.

According to Koh Lanta police, the suspect’s identity was hidden in exchange for his consent to the financial settlement.
