Driver Killed, Chinese Tourists Injured

Thoen police responded to a distressing report of a tragic accident involving a coach carrying 33 Chinese tourists, which collided with roadside trees on Phahonyothin Road in Thoen, Lampang.

Upon arrival at the scene, Thoen police and emergency services encountered a severely damaged coach entangled with roadside trees. Tragically, the coach driver, identified as Mr. Chaturapat, aged 31, was found deceased. Additionally, two Chinese passengers sustained serious injuries, while 31 others suffered minor injuries.

Immediate medical aid was administered by the Thoen emergency services team before transporting the injured individuals to Thoen and Sop Prap Hospitals for urgent treatment. Unharmed passengers were accommodated at the Thoen police station awaiting transportation by another coach to Bangkok.

Initial investigations suggest that the coach, which had picked up the Chinese tourists from Fang, Chiang Mai en route to Bangkok, may have veered off course due to driver fatigue, possibly causing the collision with the roadside trees. Additionally, the road conditions at the accident site might have been compromised by previous rainfall, contributing to the incident.

However, authorities intend to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the precise cause of the accident.
