China Southern Airlines increases Boeing and Airbus orders

Boeing and Airbus order increases are planned by China Southern Airlines.

Some 200 Boeing and Airbus single-aisle aircraft would reportedly be added by China Southern Airlines over the course of three years.

China Southern’s aircraft delivery and disposal plan, which was published on March 27, 2023, and which was originally reported by Bloomberg, provided more information on the airline’s strategies.

The newspaper claims that 111 Airbus A320 series aircraft and 103 Boeing 737 aircraft will be included in the overall deal.

Deliveries would reportedly comprise 96 Airbus A320neo valued at $12.2 billion, which was a previous arrangement announced in July 2022.

Although the fleet was grounded for three years following the deaths of 346 people in two crashes, Boeing 737 MAX flights only resumed in January 2023.

A China Southern Airlines Boeing 737 MAX made its inaugural trip on January 13, 2023, from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport (CGO).

Air China, Hainan Airlines and its affiliate Fuzhou Airlines, Lucky Air, Shandong Airlines, and Shanghai Airlines are just a few of the airlines that have since followed in the footsteps of China Southern Airlines.

Seven Chinese airlines are now flying a total of 25 Boeing 737 MAX planes, all of which are model -8s.

Although China was the first nation to stop the Boeing 737 MAX, no announcement was made regarding the plane’s eventual return.
