A fatal accident occurred early on Saturday in Suan Luang district, Bangkok, as a car driven by a suspected foreign national crashed into a road divider and erupted in flames.
The incident unfolded at the entrance of Soi Phatthanakan 53/1 on Phatthanakan Road, with police responding to a report from the Rama 199 Radio Centre around 5:11 am.
Upon arrival, firefighters and rescuers discovered a Toyota Vios with Samut Prakan license plates overturned and engulfed in flames. It took approximately 10 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the blaze. Tragically, the driver was found deceased, trapped inside the vehicle. Rescue teams utilized specialized tools to access the wreckage and retrieve the body.
The driver sustained extensive burns, with documents found nearby featuring a photo resembling a Middle Eastern individual. Additionally, foreign banknotes were discovered near the scene, according to police reports.
Witnesses recounted observing the car speeding in the right lane before colliding with the road divider and a palm tree, causing the sedan to overturn. Despite attempts by a passer-by to rescue the unconscious driver, their efforts were unsuccessful, and the vehicle quickly became engulfed in flames.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
