Burglar Breaks into Navy Officer’s House

A homeowner in Sattahip, who is a naval officer, shot and injured a suspected burglar in a pre-dawn incident on March 22nd, 2024.

Sattahip police responded to a report of a robbery at 6:30 AM today. The incident occurred at a single-family home on Sukhumvit Road in the Sattahip district, Chonburi province.

Upon arrival, officers found the injured suspect, 44-year-old Mr. Methanee Phutthaso, believed to be the burglar, inside the house. The suspect was found on the second floor, with a gunshot wound to his left arm. He was wearing a full-face mask. A bag containing stolen religious statues was discovered next to him.

Rescue workers treated the suspect before transporting him to Somdet Phra Nang Chao Sirikit Hospital for further treatment.

The homeowner, identified as 51-year-old Capt Patthanasamit Nimrueang, a 2nd class sharpshooter within the Thai Navy, was present at the house. He stated that he shot the suspect to protect his property.

Capt Patthanasamit revealed that this was actually the seventh burglary attempt on his house this month. He confronted the suspects after hearing a break-in attempt and, fearing for his safety, fired a single shot when the suspects charged at him. The other suspect managed to escape into the woods next to his house.

Capt Patthanasamit handed over a SIG P320 pistol to Sattahip police for examination. An arrest warrant is being prepared for the injured suspect, and a search is underway to apprehend the other accomplice involved.
