Body of Missing Japanese Man Found

Japanese Man missing since December found in Bangkok

A Japanese tourist who had been missing since late December has been found in a klong (canal) in central Bangkok. Police are still waiting for confirmation but are 99% confident that it is who they have been looking for.

Mr. Tsuboi, 22 year old, lost contact with his family around December 27th last year. According to his family, he had been working in Australia, and had been visiting Thailand on vacation. He had been in regular contact with his family back home up until December 27th.

He had arranged with his girlfriend for her to travel from Japan to Thailand on January 7th to visit him before he went back to work in Australia. On arriving at Survarabhumi airport, the girlfriend saw no sign of her boyfriend, and immediately contacted authorities.

Confirmation came that there were no records of Mr. Tsuboi leaving Thailand, and a nationwide search started in the hope of locating the man.

Police describe the body to be 163-168cm tall, with long curly hair, a tanned complexion and a little ghost cartoon tattoo on the left side of his torso. A total of 83 baht was found on the body, along with a stainless steel ring. Police also added that there were no signs of injuries to the body, which indicted no foul play or assault.

The body is being held at Siriraj hospital’s morgue until the parents of the man arrive to identify the body.
