Pichit Hospital has issued an urgent appeal for blood donations to aid four rescue volunteers injured in a road accident while returning to Nonthaburi after assisting flood victims in Chiang Rai.
On Monday, the hospital received three bags of donor blood transported by helicopter from Chiang Rai. Two were used immediately, and the third is still undergoing checks, according to the provincial public relations office. However, more blood is still required, particularly A-negative, for the continued treatment of the four volunteers. Potential donors are urged to contact the hospital at 094-101-4403.
The identities and conditions of the injured volunteers have not yet been disclosed. Tragically, a female colleague was killed in the accident.
All five were part of the Nonthaburi Rescue Unit stationed at the Charoen Nakhon checkpoint. The accident occurred when their pickup truck crashed into a roadside tree in Sam Ngam district, Pichit, as they returned from their relief mission on Sunday.
Police investigators suggest the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, likely fatigued after the demanding work of helping flood victims in Mae Sai.
