After being struck by a rock during a chaotic battle in a Pattaya market that included gunfire and bombs, a teenager suffered head injuries.
Just before dawn on Saturday, April 22, the incident at the well-known Poethisarn Market in North Pattaya was reported to the Pattaya City Police.
When they arrived, they saw a 17-year-old male youth who works as a fruit vendor seriously bleeding. Due of his advanced age, his name was suppressed. The 29-year-old owner of the fruit stand and employer of the injured youths, Ms. Warunee Nang Ngam, informed police that one of her staff members had an issue with another group of teenagers over Songkran.
Before this group started shooting and hurling homemade bombs at her staff members, more than 20 teenagers had arrived to quarrel with them. Her employee was struck by a rock.As they rode away on their motorcycles, this sizable gang of adolescents threatened the market stall vendors not to call the police or report the event to the media, but Warunee told authorities she wasn’t scared and dialed 911 right away.
The Pattaya City Police that they are carrying out additional legal research and checking CCTV as part of their ongoing inquiry.
The hurt adolescent is being treated at a nearby hospital and chose not to speak to the media or provide further details regarding the nature of the conflict and issue with the other group of teens.
