Afghanistan qualified for their first World Cup semi-final by defeating Bangladesh in a thrilling low-scoring match in St Vincent.

This historic victory secured their progression as runners-up from Super 8s Group 1, while also eliminating Bangladesh and heavyweights Australia from the tournament.

Needing a win to advance, Afghanistan set a modest target of 115, underperforming in their first innings.

A dramatic, rain-interrupted second innings saw the match’s momentum swing between the teams and Australia, with all three having moments as favorites to advance.

Ultimately, Afghanistan’s captain Rashid Khan and Naveen-ul-Haq each took four wickets, leading their team to a narrow eight-run victory.
