Police arrested a Chiang Rai man on Tuesday night for allegedly stabbing his wife to death and throwing her body in their fishpond before going for a drink
Anon Jihom, 57, was arrested while drinking with friends not far from his house in Ban San Pladook village in Tambon Hua Ngoom of Chiang Rai’s Phan district.
The arrest was made shortly after police were alerted of the murder at 7pm.
Anon was charged with stabbing his wife, Mayuree Jihom, 54, and putting her body in a pond behind their house. She suffered at least five wounds to the neck, back and throat.
Relatives went to the house to check after they heard the couple quarrel, and saw the man ride his motorcycle away from the house.
A pool of blood and a 30-centimetre knife were found in the kitchen, with blood tracing to the fish pond.
