Four Muslim villagers were massacred while mining for gold at a canal in Narathiwat’s Sukhirin district on Thursday, police said.

Police were alerted at 9pm of the murders at Sai Buri canal in Ban Nam Tok village in Tambon Sukhirin of Sukhirin district.

The four villagers were identified as Mayusoh Bado, 49, Hillme Bado, 23, Muhamad Hadis Bado, 16, and Maroshadi Poh, 36.

They were found with shots to the body.
