A teenage schoolboy on his way to school on his motorcycle struck and killed a 77-year-old cyclist in Muang Chai Nat on Thursday morning.
Prapai Phuttasaksophon was 200 metres from her home when she was knocked off her bicycle at the foot of a new bridge over the Chao Phraya River.
The 11th-grader told police that he was driving only between 40 and 50 kilometres per hour but did not see the cyclist crossing the road due to a curve.
Prapai’s neighbours said she took the same route every morning to ride in the public park on the opposite side of the road.
