A 71-year-old woman has been arrested in Phitsanulok’s Muang district for selling small quantities of drugs to make ends meet, police said on Thursday.
Pong Yangruang was arrested at her house in Moo 7 village of Tambon Ban Pa on Wednesday evening after neighbours informed the police that she was selling drugs to teens in the area.
Police found 34 methamphetamine pills and 13 grammes of crystal meth in her house.
Pong admitted she sold drugs because she was unable to live on the monthly government pension, saying she had never married and had no children to support her.
She said a distant grandnephew, called Arm, offered to help by giving her meth pills to sell. She bought the drug for Bt90 a pill and resold it for Bt120, using the small profit to pay her water and power bills and to buy food.
