Locals Call for Stricter Fines as Waste Piles Up Along Jomtien Beach
Cleanup Efforts Following Pattaya Music Festival
PATTAYA, Thailand – In the early hours before dawn, the Cleanliness Control Division of the Office of Natural Resources and Environment worked tirelessly to clear litter from Jomtien Beach after night gatherings. Their efforts aimed to restore the area to its pristine condition following the Pattaya Music Festival.
Concerns Over Littering by Tourists
Despite these cleanup efforts, many locals have voiced frustration over the persistent issue of waste left behind by visitors. One concerned resident remarked, “Indian, Burmese, and Chinese tourists sit, eat, and leave bottles and snack bags all over the beach. When I go for a walk at night, the trash is everywhere. Why aren’t they fined? Maybe if they were penalized, they would stop. I feel sorry for the cleanup workers.”
Calls for Stricter Enforcement
Many citizens believe that stronger enforcement of littering laws, including stricter fines, could help reduce the burden on cleanup crews and keep Pattaya’s beaches cleaner. While authorities continue their efforts to maintain cleanliness, residents hope that increased penalties for offenders will serve as a deterrent and promote greater responsibility among beachgoers.
